Boys and girls ages 18 and under may compete; the minimum age is 5. Players compete by gender and age group. The age bracket uses the applicable seasonal age date: Spring—May 31; Summer—August 31; Fall—November 30; Winter—February 28.
Stroke play means each player’s score is based on the strokes taken. Players ages 5–10 play nine holes; ages 11–18 play eighteen holes. Age-appropriate play and the Longleaf Tee System support suitable play for different ages and genders; specific tee assignments are covered elsewhere.
Local Tours offer a place for players at different skill levels. Players may have opportunities to qualify for State, Regional, World, Teen Series, and International Championships. The pathway adds goals while the local event remains a worthwhile experience for players and families.
